Looking For Alternative Medicine Doctors
July 26, 2009
So you have decided that it’s time to take the plunge and take charge of your own health! Congratulations, and may this be the start of a wonderful new chapter of your life. One of the first steps you should take is to start looking for alternative medicine doctors. A good alternative medicine doctor is worth his weight in gold. He can help you to get started on this natural health journey unlike anyone else.
A good place to start your search for an alternative medicine doctor is, believe it or not, a large teaching hospital. Oftentimes, staff members such as a nurse, physical therapist, social worker, or even a doctor will be able to help you by steering you in the right direction. Another idea is to do a web search to see what is available in your area.
Try to choose a doctor you feel comfortable with. It’s a proven fact that any treatment works better when you can establish a level of trust with your doctor, and this kind of specialty doctor is no exception. Since alternative medicine deals with the body and mind as a whole, it is important to choose someone who is on the same wavelength as you, if possible. When looking for an alternative medicine doctor, it might be helpful to prepare a list of questions about the things that you would like in a doctor of this caliber. After all, one does not choose a doctor every day, and it’s best to be prepared.
The doctor may have some questions for you as well, so it is best to be prepared. One of the main topics he or she may wish to discuss with you is why you are looking for alternative medicine doctors. Don’t be nervous! Answering the doctor’s questions is one way to get to know him better.
An alternative medicine doctor may ask you why you are looking for natural, holistic treatment instead of that of a conventional physician. He could inquire as to what the status of your health is at the time you are speaking with him, and what you expect to accomplish by putting yourself in his care. He or she could also be interested in just how much you really know about the general ideas and principles of alternative treatment.
Even though you may be fairly certain you have found the doctor to suit your needs after that first interview, you should not settle on the very first one. Go ahead and interview at least one or two more. Then, you can make a decision that you can be absolutely sure about.
Don’t be too shy to ask about the costs of office visits and other treatment. Make sure you like the office staff, as you will be speaking with them as much or more than the doctor. And, last but not least, check with your insurance company to see if alternative medicine doctors are covered.
Herbal Medicine Usage Theories
May 12, 2009
When you use herbs, you probably don’t think about why you are using them the way you are. Most herbal medicine practitioners subscribe to one of several different theories about the proper use of herbal medicine. One of the oldest theories is the Chinese theory that states that herbal medicine is divided into two categories that produce yin-yang balance: pro-oxidants and anti-oxidants. Another, slightly more recent theory about herbal medicine is derived from Native American uses. Native Americans used herbs according to their physiological effects and spiritual uses.
A modern theory combines some of these older theories to create the use of herbal combinations to treat illnesses. According to the Triune formula, there are nine herbal combinations that nourish, supplement, or drain the main organ systems of the human body. This formula was derived from ideas in Chinese herbal medicine.
Skeptics view on Reiki
January 22, 2009
Many believe Reiki to be a pseudoscience. Many medical personnel think it is a waste of time. Doctors express concern when people with serious diseases such as heart problems, stroke, and cancer choose Reiki over conventional treatment. The practitioners are playing on the patient’s fear and just stealing their money, doing nothing in the process.
Reiki practitioners maintain that while you should still get the treatment your doctor has planned, you can use Reiki as a complement to that therapy. The Reiki community would never advocate causing harm to anyone.
There are also many controversies about the different Reiki schools and how they differ. Some use different symbols. Some use energy healing instead of laying in of hands. Some go through each degree in one year, whereas others can take up to ten years to get to Master.
The churches have issues with Reiki as well. The Catholics believe it opens the door to evil. Some religions don’t even recognize it as a healing force. They believe that there is no way that a universal force could flow through one person at any given time.
The best way to help these skeptical people understand Reiki is for them to have one treatment before they claim it as bunk. They would find that they are very wrong. Treatments are very relaxing and very gentle with soft music playing in the background. They would lay on the table while the practitioner makes a circle of their entire body with the Reiki force. They would start at the patient’s head chakra and go all the way down to the root chakra opening any that have closed. The they do each knee chakra. Then you flip over, and they work on your back chakras. After that, they give you an affirmation and anchor it in with a symbol and you are done. It takes about an hour to go through the whole process.
Egyptian Reiki
December 7, 2008
Egyptian Reiki is better known as Reyad Sekh Em? Rei is the universal life force while Sekh Em is energy from the four elements namely air, earth, fire, ether (spirit) and water. It is designed to heal more deeply bringing greater balance on all levels be it emotional, mental, physical or spiritual.
Egyptian Reiki just like the Japanese version commonly being practiced today includes a negative energy drain that helps remove symptoms of depression or deep seated pain.
This ultra high vibrational healing system was developed by Joanna Bristow Watkins who traveled to Egypt several times and came up with this using an authentic Khemitian approach.
Patients who will undergo treatment will receive a 5 minute consultation prior to the treatment and asked to remove any jewelry or any items that may restrict the healing process except for one’s clothing.
The practitioner will then place their hands lightly on the patient’s body in different positions to start the healing process. However, if the session is to treat bruises or burns, the hands will not touch the body.
The session will last for one to two hours. If you happen to fall asleep, don’t feel bad because this is the body’s way of healing itself.
Egyptian Reiki is different from other types of healing because it usually takes just one session before results are noticed. Although it is very similar to Japanese Reiki, this method can help the person deal with spiritual problems while the other cannot.
Most people that have undergone Egyptian Reiki claim they feel sensations such as tingling warmth or heat while others feel cold. It is also possible that one may have a heightened sense of emotions but the vast majority felt a sense of calm and relaxation.
After the session, the patient may feel a renewed zest for life while others may feel exhausted. Although you may feel something in the first session, the healing process usually takes three days to three weeks to complete before everything is back to normal. During the course of the healing process, the patient is advised to drink lots of water and rest whenever possible.
Egyptian Reiki has been effective in treating chronic aches and pains as well as energetic, mental and physical disorders. But because it is only an alternative form of medicine, this must be not be substituted with medical science.
Reyad Sekh Em is completely safe. Those who want to practice it can also learn this so they too can help others that are suffering.
There are five levels that people have to master to become a master and it doesn’t matter if you have experience in Reiki or not because everyone will be taught at an even pace so no one will be left behind.
There is also a three week cleansing process. During this time, the person should let go of old issues, eat healthy and organic food, drinks lots of spring water, exercise and rest. This will prepare you for the next lesson so eventually you may become a master.
The extent to which cleaning is felt during the cleansing process shows how much a person has changed. This can change you entirely and even your outlook in life because you need to harness unconditional love to give this to whoever needs it and which is the true essence of Egyptian Reiki.

Is There a Prescription for Natural Healing?
The question as to whether there is a prescription for natural healing is something that may be worth thinking about. Since natural healing is an alternative kind of medicine, it is not likely that you can get a prescription for natural healing. If only licensed medical experts who practice conventional and modern medicine issue prescriptions, how can there be a prescription for natural healing?

A prescription for natural healing can also mean a guide to natural living. In this sense, it encourages the use of natural substances to cure the different ailments that people suffer from as well as help maintain a healthy life. Such a prescription includes a list of the many different common illnesses in the world and the natural remedies for these illnesses. The phrase ‘prescription for natural healing’ can also mean a single recipe used for healing one particular ailment and it can be given by a natural healing guru or someone who practices natural healing methods on himself. He may teach you how to overcome a certain ailment with the help of a home made recipe of herbs and natural ingredients, and this may be easily called a prescription because it fits the description of what a prescription is.
There are many different ways to interpret the phrase ‘prescription for natural healing’, but generally, emphasis is being placed on the word ‘natural’. People who wish to get a prescription for natural healing can look for a list of recipes that will help cure ailments the natural way, a guide to natural living, or even a single recipe for a specific ailment.
