Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher

July 10, 2008

You have decided you do want to take reiki, but aren’t sure which system or where to go for information. There are a number of systems available, and really, it is a matter of deciding what you think would suit your purposes. For instance if you think you would like to pursue usui Tibetan reiki, then you would likely want to be taught by a Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher.

If you have done your homework and know a bit about the differences in the reiki systems, when you start looking for a Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher you will have a very good idea of the kinds of questions you will want to ask your Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher.

The Tibetan reiki Practices were incorporated into Usui Reiki and renamed Raku Kai Reiki.  So you may want to discuss with your Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher what techniques you will be learning. For instance there is the Breath of the Fire Dragon, the Microcosmic Orbit called the Hui Yin, the White Light Symbol from the Johrei Religion, and the Antahkarana Symbol.

There are some differences of opinion as to what was added further to the above symbols, but your Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher will be able to tell you others added in reiki Guides and Guide meditations. You will also like deal with the symbols of Raku, Tibetan Master Symbol, and the Fire Serpent. The Usui Tibetan Tradition has been popularized by William Rand and Diane Stein and of course both of them are Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher(s) among other things.

The Usui / Tibetan Schools will often have a level IIIa that means they are teaching four levels rather than the traditional three in Western Usui Shiki Ryoho. The fourth level, and you can get more information on this from your Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher, is usually considered to be a personal mastery level. For this level you are taught several new age techniques including reiki crystal grids, healing attunements, the Antahkarana symbol and meditations, reiki guide work etc.

You may also have some other pointed questions for your teacher as well. For instance in most cases those who practice reiki are BEING reiki, in the moment, intuitive and going with the flow of what feels right, what the universal life force energy tells us. It is without control and no expectations. By adding in guides, crystals and other things that exert external control, aren’t we messing with the flow and intent of universal life force energy? Just a question you may want to ask. The amount of time you spend with reiki and learning and using the symbols will make an enormous difference in how skilled you are as a practitioner. As the old saying goes, “Practice makes perfect!”

Usui Tibetan Reiki – A Modality Worth Trying

July 7, 2008

Usui Tibetan Reiki is not all that different from Usui Reiki but it’s origins are a bit different. Usui Tibetan Reiki is built on the studies of Arthur Robertson’s Raku Kai Reiki. This style of reiki has four levels – Level I, II, Level IIIa and Level IIIb. What is primarily different about Usui Tibetan Reiki is the fact that it uses crystals, guides, healing attunements and various Tibetan symbols. This particular style of reiki was popularized by Diane Stein and William Rand.

Usui Tibetan Reiki, as noted above was built on the foundations of Raku Kai Reiki. Arthur Robertson who developed it was a student of one of Takata’s 22 masters. The Raku Kai Reiki uses Master Frequency Generator Plates, Hui Yin, Violet Breath, Tibetan symbols, the O Sui Ching water ritual, and the White Light symbol. Not only has this school of practice led to the development of Usui Tibetan Reiki, but also Vajra Reiki, Karuna Reiki and Tera Mai Reiki.
Of course the original creator of Reiki itself was Mikao Usui and his system of Usui Reike is the most widely used one today. The Usui Tibetan Reiki system is now often used interchangeably with Usui Reiki – even though there are overall differences. Usui Tibetan Reiki takes portions of Usui Reiki and combines them with a powerful Tibetan method of attunement.

Another notable difference in the Usui Tibetan Reiki is the number of different symbols used that are an elegant mixture of Sanskrit and Japanese Kanji. Tibetan Reiki is also spoken of generically to describe Usui Tibetan Reiki and Tibetan-Usui Reiki. Tibetan Reiki believes it is using the original practices from Tibet. Tibetan Reiki makes use of the Tibetan Master Symbol – the Dumo – part of the William Rand system. The Dumo is also referred to as the Tibetan Dai Ko Mio. The Dai Ko Mio is used in the Usui system and is the symbol that empowers other symbols used to heal. The Usui Master symbol the Dai Ko Mio roughly translates to ‘Great Being of the universe, shine on me, be my friend.”

In the Tibetan reiki system the Tibetan Dai Ko Mio is thought to unify the mind and body. It supposedly works with fire in the base chakra by lighting the sacred flame – the Kundalini energy. It is also said it pulls negative energy and disease from your mind and body. The use of the Usui Tibetan Reiki master symbol creates a noticeably stronger connection between the physical and the Higher Self. The stronger the connection the more it allows the unlimited power of Reiki to manifest on the physical plane.

Reiki Symbols – The Gift of Life Force

July 7, 2008

There are two schools of thought about Reiki symbols. The first says that Reiki symbols are sacred and not to be shared with those who are not initiated into Reiki. It is thought the Reiki symbols will not work, and will be diluted if they are shared with someone who has no knowledge of how to use them. The second school of thought is sharing the Reiki symbols with everyone is really what the energy of Reiki is all about – UNIVERSAL life force. And thus, it should be available to all to share. Seems there is no right or wrong here, just which school of thought you subscribe to, or what your Reiki training has been.

There are still some old Reiki masters who will tell you right off the bat that the Reiki symbols are not to be shared with just anyone, as it takes away from the power of them. There may be sense in this argument if you stop to think about the Reiki symbols themselves. They don’t mean anything to someone who has no idea what they are or what they can achieve with them. On the other hand, there are so many self-help books on the subject of Reiki and using the Reiki symbols that you might think you can learn how to do Reiki through using a book and teaching yourself.

If the books dealing with Reiki symbols are to be believed, you should not only be able to learn the symbols, but attune yourself and become whatever level of practitioner you wish. While this sounds simple, there really is a whole lot more to it than just reading a book. Particularly when you get more advanced in levels.

Without getting into too much about the symbols, as in drawing them, we can certainly tell you the names of the symbols used for the lower levels of Reiki energy channeling. If you are just starting, the first level of Reiki requires no symbols to work. It does however need an attunement from the Reiki master who is training you. Level 2 symbols need to be given to you by the Reiki master along with an attunement to the second level. Self-help books indicate you can do attunements yourself. That is still a highly controversial level and a word of caution here. Do energy work with respect and caution.

But, back to the Level 2 symbols. There are three of them – the Power symbol, the Mental/Emotional Symbol and the Distance Symbol. The Power symbol means “by Imperial decree, put all the power of the universe here”. The Mental/Emotional Symbol means “God and humanity become one, to create a new habit”. The Distance Symbol means “May the Buddha (enlightened one) in me connect with the Buddha in you to promote peace and dignity.”

Reiki Master – the Keeper of the Keys

July 3, 2008

The Reiki Master is the keeper of the keys so to speak – of the symbols that will unlock access to the universal life force energy. In reiki the reiki master mean teacher. The reiki master is also considered by most to have come far enough along in their own development that they have fewer things to trouble them lifestyle and belief wise. In other words, fewer things that take time and energy away from the reiki master in living a life of reiki beliefs experienced to the fullest.

By no means does the designation reiki master imply that it is an ego trip or to be used to manipulate others. This is a position of serious honor and is to be treated as such. A reiki master is in a unique position to transfer (attune) others to the universal life force energy and teach the correct positions to use and the right way to honor reiki as a healing art.

Do you have to be spiritually oriented to be a reiki master? It doesn’t hurt if you are, but by no means is it a requirement to base your life on spiritual practices in order to be a reiki master. However, above all else, you must have the respect and discretion to use the power of reiki for the greatest good to be a reputable reiki master. The whole point of being a reiki master is that you are able to deal with your own energy field and not interfere with the path of another being. This is applicable at lower levels of reiki as well.

The whole philosophy of reiki really is to “NOT” interfere with other beings. They are all here to attain their own journey for their soul. You are not here to judge them, only to help them attain their goals if you can. Of course they must come to you and ask to be helped. You may offer help, but only three times and then leave things up to them. Reiki is about the deepest of respect and honor for others. You never give a treatment of any kind or attunement of any kind without permission.

Your master need to be a person who is dedicated to reiki and who can teach you one-on-one about the ins and outs of reiki. It looks easy, and when you get started, it is easy. The part that takes your dedication and commitment is the adherence to the honor of dealing respectfully with the life force energy you are now capable of channeling to others, including animals, plants etc. You must have a deep belief in the concept of the power of reiki and use it only for the highest good.

Reiki Therapy for the Troubled Soul

July 3, 2008

Reiki therapy is for anyone! It’s just that simple – period! But here are the questions that many seem to have. How does it work? Is it really any more complex than say microwave energy? Does it really work? And the biggest one is those that approach you and say “Prove it!” A happy challenge indeed! Reiki therapy won’t hurt any one and can actually help them – if they are open to being helped. That is fairly critical. You can’t give reiki therapy (life force energy) to someone who is not interested in it or who does not want it.

Do you realize we are all born with the latent ability to heal? Taking Reiki, allows us to begin using that talent. And once we begin to use that latent talent, we can give reiki therapy to others. Sure there will be questions asked of you, since for some reiki therapy will be akin to reading tea leaves. Be patience and show them the benefits. Your reiki therapy will speak louder than any arguments you may have. You can’t force someone through an argument to have reiki therapy, you can only teach by doing.
Many people do not realize that there is an unseen energy that flows all around us. In fact, it flows through ALL living things. It’s a simple premise but one we don’t seem to spend too much time thinking about. However, for thousands of years, energy healers have been using this life force energy through the “laying on of hands”. And no it’s not a farce or mystical. It just IS! The universal life force energy is what practitioners tap into when giving reiki therapy.
Reiki therapy is a gentle, non-invasive technique you can use for any illness. It has been shown to relax, comfort and heal as well as ease pain. It really can’t be learned from a book. There are too many things that can fall through the cracks of the learning process. And since reiki and the life force energy are to be dealt with in a manner of great respect and deference, learning from a book takes away from that process, that celebration of spirit. A book can’t explain to you what a reiki Master can explain as you are learning.
Once you have received an attunement for your level from the reiki Master, you will have this ability for life. It’s an amazing experience and will change your life in very powerful ways. The attunement will wake up your healing abilities and allow you to help to heal others, and yourself.
Is reiki easy to learn and use? Yes, it just takes a special commitment and open mind and respect for all things spiritual. And once you start down the path to reiki enlightenment, you will see what an enormous difference you can make in not only your own life but the lives of others.

Reiki Usui – The Original Reiki

June 27, 2008

Reiki Usui is credited to its founder, Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. The driving force behind reiki usui was Mikao Usui’s wish to help others heal more intensely. To do this he became familiar with oriental and western methods of healing, and then synthesized these into what is known as reiki usui.
Although Usui was born into the spiritual traditions of his family, which were Tendai, he was certain there was a better way to heal. Interestingly Usui found the path he needed to follow to create reiki usui with the understanding and mentoring of a Shingon Priest. This path was not without problems as to pursue it meant a rift was created with his family. To change sects was to go against family tradition. So intent on the dream of something better to heal – the dream of reiki usui – he continued in his journey and did become a disciple and follower of Shingon.
Utterly convinced he would find parallel teachings in other traditions, Usui studied Tibetan Vajrayana and Tibetan Medicine. What he found was not reiki usui (at least not yet), but he did find similar teachings to those of Japanese esoteric Buddhism. By now he had a great deal on his plate and attempted to condense it into a more formal structure for himself. To do that, he started to codify the teaching and methods into a system that included the use of symbols. This also included esoteric dharani and methods to tapping in to bestow (channel) power. A dharani is a type of ritual speech similar to a mantra. Although they are similar, they are used in different situations.
Usui got to a point and then got stuck. In the traditions he was drawing upon, the conferring of power could only be done by a living teacher called an Acarya. Since he was not a Master Teacher he decided there must be a way to do direct power transfers. At a momentary loss, he decided to meditate, fast and pray for a line of direct empowerment – for reiki usui if you will.
The story goes that Usui went to the scared mountain of Kurama just outside Kyoto. Kurama had been a Tendai temple for years, but was frequented by monks from other sects. During his meditation’s he realized a complete understanding of how to do direct power transfer and began to develop what we know as reiki usui. Usui is said to have taught many the ability to lay on hands and heal, but didn’t teach many the deeper, more committed path that can be taken to understanding reiki.

Usui reiki is considered to be the original reiki and the foundation of most of the reiki systems in use in the world today. Stop and think about the enormous contribution Mikao Usui made to this world with his gift to us of the universal life force energy.

What is Reiki? The Gift of Universal Life Force Energy!

June 23, 2008

What is Reiki? In its simplest form, reiki is universal life force energy that is given to a client through a reiki practitioner. But, other than that – what is reiki? From a healing point of view, it is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. If you have read anything about reiki, then you will have heard about the laying on of hands and have wondered what is reiki able to do for me?

The laying on of hands is done to channel the universal life force energy through the practitioner to the client. This isn’t so far fetched if you stop to think about it. This life force energy flows through all of us and is what causes us to be alive. Are you wondering what is reiki going to do about you feeling sick or stressed? Good question. The answer is if your life force energy is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If on the other hand your life force energy is strong and high, you are much more capable of being happy and healthy.

What is reiki in Japanese mean? The word reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki with is the life force energy. So what that all means is that reiki is really spiritually guided life force energy.

What is reiki in terms of treatments? Reiki treats the whole person and that includes the body, emotions, mind and spirit. Imagine the well-being to be derived from this! Reiki can be done with a gentle laying on of hands and following all the hand positions of a traditional reiki treatment. Or, the practitioner can work in the energy field of your body, just a few inches above you. Either way, you will receive the benefits of reiki.

You may feel either heat or cold or tingling. No two people are the same in the way they receive energy from the practitioner. Reiki is simple, natural, holistic, safe and the ideal companion to conventional massage or any type of medical healing. It won’t hurt you and it may even make you feel better. Do your research on reiki before you decide if you want to try this marvelous healing experience. You will learn of its origins, what practitioners believe in, how they work, how they channel the life force energy to you and what the overall benefits to you can be.

If you like what you read and hear and experience, then you will delighted to know it is amazingly easy to learn as well. The ability to use reiki is not taught in the usual sense, through book learning (although you can learn about it this way). It is instead transferred to the student during a reiki class by the Reiki Master.

Reiki Healing – for A Better Vibration

June 22, 2008

If you don’t know anything about Reiki, but are interested in reducing stress in your life and experiencing deep relaxation, then try Reiki.  It won’t hurt you.  One of the most often talked about benefits of Reiki healing is stress reduction and relaxation.  Does Reiki healing help the body?  Yes, it triggers your natural healing abilities, improves and maintains your health.  And Reiki healing is a natural therapy.  In this day and age of pills for this and that, hormones for other things and concoctions and doctors writing too many prescriptions, Reiki healing is gaining popularity.  People want to get back to something natural, and what could be more natural than the energy of Reiki healing?

Reiki healing is non-invasive and can be done either hands on the client’s body, or by just working in the client’s “aura” or “energy” field just a few inches out from their body.  What is happening is the energy being channeled through the Reiki practitioner is working with the Higher Self of the Receiver (Client) to enhance their health and well-being.  That would be the WHOLE being, including the physical, emotional and psychic body.  Reiki healing knows where to go and what to do.  It has an intelligence of it own.

The only thing required by the practitioner is the intention to heal/help with Reiki.  The only thing required by the client is to give permission to the practitioner to use the intention to heal/help them.  Interesting note: Reiki healing can be channeled to yourself as well as to others.  Reiki energy is total and pure energy. When it is partnered with the sincere desire to heal or be healed the results are often quite amazing.

Are there any other benefits of reiki?  Yes, it can clear energy blockages in your body.  When your life force energy is disrupted, weakened or blocked what tends to happen is emotional or health problems crop up.  An imbalance in our energy can stem from many things – injury, negative thoughts/feelings, worry, fear, anger, negative self-talk etc.  Reiki can help with any and all energy interruptions in your body by the universal life force energy channeled through the practitioner.  You won’t ever deplete the energy level of the practitioner, for they have access to a limitless supply.

What other benefits can I derive from Reiki besides deep relaxation?  Reiki helps accelerate your self-healing abilities, helps you sleep better, can reduce blood pressure, helps relieve pain, supports your immune system and raises the vibrational frequency of the body among other things.
Reiki complements Eastern and Western medicine and everyone can benefit from it, even animals, plants, water etc.  Everything in our environment has a life force energy and it is often over looked in our hectic lifestyles.

Reiki – The Hands Approach to Healing

June 22, 2008

Although Reiki appears to some to “mystical”, it’s actually not all that complex.  Reiki is about utilizing what we all have, but aren’t aware of or even use. You may have doubts about Reiki, and that is fine.  However, try it anyway.  It won’t hurt you, and you might be surprised at the results.  Here’s some food for thought.  People who have surgery and use Reiki in their recovery process, tend to heal faster. Reiki is a tool best used in conjunction with other healing modalities, like remedial massage.

The word Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese kanji for universal life-force energy and is a holistic, light-touch, energy-based modality.  It is known to be simple and yet able to produce measurable results. Reiki – the flow of energy through the body – re-establishes a normal flow of ki, which is your life-force energy.  This life-force energy once activated and used enhances and accelerates your body’s healing abilities.

How does Reiki get administered?  Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body just inside the energy field.  The practitioner channels (through their hands) a flow of energy into your body. Your body then takes the energy it needs.

What happens during a session?  The client, fully clothed, lies on the treatment table. The practitioner’s hands assume a stationary position, lightly on or slightly above the body through several positions from head to toe and from front to back. There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. This is not a massage.

Many people have reported feeling cold, pulsating heat, or a tingling sensation during a session. It is different for each person. Reiki is not any more magical than any other modality or allopathic medicine. Healing takes commitment and takes time - one moment at a time.

The reiki energy works with all other forms of therapy. It’s a wonderful holistic compliment to other treatments. The energy goes to exactly where it is needed which means the person giving you the treatment does not diagnose or prescribe anything.

When you start receiving treatments, ideally three or four are good over a period of ten to fourteen days.  This should remove entrenched energy blocks from your system. Once this has been done, you should be able to have a session once a week or every two weeks.  Will you notice any improvement after the first session?  In most cases yes, but in some no – it depends on how deeply entrenched your energy block is.  You may feel nothing the first day or so, but will notice some differences a few days later. Disease generally begins in the energy field so if we keep our physical bodies healthy with good nutrition and exercise, we should be able to stay in sync with our energy as a whole.
